Default Contest Preparation Resource

Source: mda1125 of DiscussBodybuilding.com

Here's a story I overhead in the gym yesterday from two experienced guys who have done plenty of bodybuilding competitions.

Apparently one guy they work out with talks a lot of crap. He was preparing for some local competition. I've seen him around a lot and he was "big" not ripped and didn't look fat just big. But according to them, he was still about 10 weeks out from competition shape. One of the guys goes to the local show to give his support. This person is on stage and looked very out of place. While his tan was right on the money, apparently posing needed worked and was smooth. Needless to say, he didn't get the call for the top 5. I cannot imagine the disappointment.

But while they were discussing this, I was thinking to myself, how the heck does a person like me, who's never competed before, get into contest shape?

There's two ways and you can do both for maximum effect:

1) There's a resource in the DB Premier forum called, Your First Bodybuilding Competition. Here Lee Hayward goes over the 7 compulsory poses and even gives a break-down on the 3 months out form the show and what you should be doing to get into shape and as ripped as possible. And he doesn't go into so much detail that a newbie gets lost. It's pretty easy to follow.

2) Find a guy at your gym who's won some contests and who's willing to walk you thru posing and diets. Posing is an art in itself. To think you can just walk on stage and throw a double bicep shot and move around while keeping flex is laughable. Would you except a newbie to just start working out Day 1 at an advanced level? So don't take posing lightly.

Do both of these for maximum effect. Become a DB Premier member and get your hands on this eBook. It's only 21 pages. But it's 21 pages of the start of your competition. Then find yourself a person who's experienced and can show you these 7 poses and maybe work on a routine.

Apparently out of all the people that do competitions at the lower levels, only about 10% or less should even be there. By finding out some of this information and how-to's early on, you can be one of the few 10% that stays.

WOW this is a very late bump, but just wanted to say thanks. The "Your First Bodybuilding Competition" article is great!
