| Soldier In Progress | Well I was super impressed by Treo's Excursion demo truck and how it was built ... so I'm going to build my car in a similar fashion, I'm 100% sure it's not going to be as pretty of an install but I don't care. I want to build this for SQ/SPL ... I want to play music at 150dB+ ... Plans are calling for 4 15's or 18's depending on space, don't know if I can get enough internal volume for the 18's in my small car (as they call for 6-10 cubes). Going to go for a Hifonix XX Goliath ... 5kw amp @ 1ohm (maybe 2 )total cost of build will be right around $4,000. Treo's Excursion, what I'm going to build in my back seat ![]()

| Soldier In Progress | only have to go 2 miles to get to the sound competition and that's the only thing I'm building the car for is 1 sound comp in August ![]() K so I just crunched some numbers, without completely destroying the car I've got around 15 cubes to work with ... subs are going to be Fi 15" BL's ($279/ea). Around 6 cubes each internal volume, they're gonna be tuned in around 30hz (so it can actually play music). Still going to have 6x9 rear fill, and still going to have front speakers, and still going to own everyone ![]() I'm hoping for a 150+ dB's out of this setup which I expect to get considering I'm cutting the cubic feet of my car in half and port will pretty much be directly facing the meter (if they put it under the rear view mirror). Around 1250w/rms will be directed at each sub @ 1Ohm. My $100 car is going to have about $5k worth of audio equipment in it LOL ...

| Soldier In Progress | I think top prize is like $2500 or $5000, won't pay for the system but it's the system I want anyway so it'll pay for part of it and i'm happy with that.

| Soldier In Progress | Well this will be a long build as I've got about 6 weeks and not a whole lot of cash to spare, but as of right now I've got 24 cu ft to work with in the back of a 96 Chrysler Cirrus. I'm intending on 2 Hifonics XX Goliath's or 4 BXI 2006D's (probably the 2006D's cost wise) ... not sure sub wise, looking towards the Fi Q or BL. Leaning towards the BL but with someone breaking glass on the Q it seems like it's got some mad output. Please give me some input, first big project and I'm going all out. Total learning project, 4 Stinger 1400's and a Yellow top up front, and I've got to get ahold of EA or Ohio Gen to see what I can do for alternator(s). I'd like to shoot for 4 boxes all bolted together, or 2 boxes with center ports (directed towards mirror since that's where the comp I intend to debut the car mounts meter on windshield). 2 layers of 3/4" MDF for the boxes. Don't want to wall it since I'd like to resell this car once I'm done (IF I haven't rattled it to pieces, and kept everything I took out intact). But here's the start of the project, what I got accomplished tonight. Tomorrow I go to start buying wood, and I'll be designing the box(es) tonight so stay tuned! I want this to be playable on music, and I want to base the design of the wall around Treo's Excursion, box on top & bottom with a big ass port in the middle. ![]() Start "Project Q" (replace Q for BL ... depending what I go for subs) ![]() Stripping the backseat, belts, and trim. ![]() What I've got to work with - 24w 48d 36h = 24 cubes total (that's being conservative) ![]() Out with the old ... PS: In taking the back seat out, I found about $7 worth of change. Pack of cigs to keep me same starting the build tomorrow!

| Soldier In Progress | Working today to rip the front seats out along with the rest of the interior to Peel N Seel floor, doors, and firewall. I'm also going to add small cell expanding foam to all my pillars, hopefully adding a little more rigidity to them for less flex in the car which should mean higher SPL! But it's way too hot outside, I'm in a black shirt and jeans and it's 85, sunny, inside a car ... no way in hell! Turns out car came with a stock amplified system, I'm going to take a deeper look at the wiring running to this amp when the carpet comes up, but I think this is a 50W x 4 channel amp. Stock speakers have "50W" on them ![]() Not sure what to do with this space, but probably nothing or mount my 16-Mc300AB here.

| Soldier In Progress | Well stripped rest of interior ... down past carpet, filling in a lot of places with expanding foam to add some strength. Also made up my mind in adding 6x9's in my doors for more fill instead of up behind head, these will still give the "rear fill" effect even without being in the rear.

| Soldier In Progress | Can anyone see what is becoming of this? ![]() 6x9's for the win! I've got 'em, might as well use them! Letting a layer of mat and glass harden, sand it or might do another layer, then going to bondo it smooth and stiffen it up with 2 layers of fiberglass cloth and resin, bondo again, and call it a day. Never really realized how much resin it takes just to do a little job ... expensive at $10.98/quart Not sure what I want to do with 6 1/2's though, since my custom door pods didn't work as planned. Might just make some nice rings for them and continue the look that I get out of the 6x9's area on, get decent 6 1/2's (Pioneer Premier components probably, cheap & sound good) and stick the 6 1/2" coax's down in the kicker panels ... just an idea, it'll be easy. Glassing is so simple, just need all the projects layed out in front of me so I can keep using the same brush.
