Default CD player background noise fix

NOTE: ONLY FOR EXTERNALLY AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS / SUBWOOFERS

Here's a quick fix for a lot of old Pioneer CD players, what happens is the internal fuse that controls grounding to RCA's blows, which results in the RCA's not grounding properly and creating a lot of background noise. This background noise is the "thump" when the CD player turns on, between songs you may here something like a CD spinning, and turning the car off you'll usually also here a "thump".

Tools Required
Screwdriver
2-6 Pieces of 4" wire with 1/4" of shrouding on each end removed (I used 18g wire)
U terminal (or ring terminal) Optional

First Step
Take CD player out of dash

Next
Find your RCA cables, take these off along with anything else that connects to the CD player directly. Usually this is a plug that snaps out easily, you may also have a grounding wire and antenna jack.

Next
Look for a screw on the back near your RCA cables, I did not have one so I had to drill a hole and use a 1/4" sheet metal screw. This will act as your ground, since the metal case that holds the CD player is grounded (or, you can ground this externally by grounding to your chassis, but that's not necessary).

Take your U or ring terminal, put your wires in, and crimp. Loosen the screw you want to use, put the terminal on, and tighten it back down.

Next
Take the other end of one of your ground wires and bend it at a right angle. This is what will go into the end of the RCA cable itself to act as the secondary ground.

As in the image above, you want to stay on the outside of the RCA jack, not touching the male end. From here, take your RCA and this may take a few tries, but push the RCA down. Keeping the ground between the outside of the jack and inside, again staying away from male end of the RCA cable (this will cause it to go into a closed loop, not letting any signal get to your amplifier).

And when finished ...
And when the project is done it should look something like this.

Do this for all your RCA cables, you may have up to 6. Front/Rear/Sub Output, this is a quick 'n easy fix for getting rid of background noise!

Please do this at your own risk, if any problems occur with your CD player or amps due to improper installation of this don't look at me!
