Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 526 | I am asking you guys, because you obviously like cars I'm more of a casual driver and don't know too much about them.I'm driving a '95 honda accura station wagon with a chunk missing from the bumper and a LOT of miles. Every few months I end up putting significant money into this car. Just recently: Muffler and exhaust system (fell off all the way in the front too) $500, front axles going $450, radiator going $330. I told him to just do the radiator and muffler. Is that the right 'choice' ??? I only want this car to last me another 6-10 months. I am graduating in May and I will have money to buy a car after a bit of saving, but should I finance under worse conditions 'now' to avoid sinking more money into my car over the next 6-8 months? The car dealerships will only give me around $500 for my car (my car is fully paid off) I really want a wrangler. I'd go for a wrangler unlimited but they cost a little too much Price will drop soon i hope. Otherwise I was thinking of getting a seneta (like $10k but nice) or leasing a honda liberty for $125 month.I just really don't know what the smart move is.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 577 | Leasing is pretty appealing if your company has an automobile reimbursement program like Runzheimer. If not, I'd just stick it out and buy a nice 06 or 07 model with low miles.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 526 | you can buy an 08/09 senata for under 10k at this place called Fucillo. Every once in a while he sells hyandais for dirt cheap, my mom has one and it's an awesome car. You can also lease honda accura 08/09 for ~$100 month and $6k down So either way I think I will come out on top when I do buy a car, but for now since I don't have the money, all of my money is going into my station wagon... :\ It's kind of digging me a hole.

Or you culd by a ford, and have on average 5 recalls, weak engines that normally break for big bucks. or a dodge that never seems to last long without something leaking and burning more oil than a any other vehicle. or a jeep, that has about 2 years before the wires wear and your entire system starts to short. Reminder i live in northern minnesota, we only drive domestic vehicles cause repairs for a japanese or other is way too much. | |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 289 | I would never buy a chevy cavalier haha. If you really want a safe vehicle with 4wd, get a Chevy pickup with the 5.7L v8. You'll be getting the same gas mileage as if you had the Wrangler, have 4wd, and be able to haul anything you want if you need it. And about selling your current car, you could always sell it to a charity or whatever and get a tax write-off.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 577 | buying trucks is so impractical...we don't all live on farms. Skel I still think that leasing is a pretty good idea if you plan on staying with that company for a while. Save money while you're working so you can buy a baller ass car in a few years. And don't buy a Wrangler ffs, I mean come on...unless you get the Rubicon, Wranglers are such fruity cars now.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 396 | Skel, sounds like you really like the Hyundai... they have made incredible improvements over the last 10 years and are certainly a respectable company these days. What's a 'Honda Accura'? Accord? Or are you talking about Acura's, which are made by Honda? Accords are great cars. Sounds like you just want a comfortable car with decent gas mileage that will get you where you need to go without falling apart every other week.... look into the japanese brands.... toyota... honda... unfortunately sometimes other people hit you.... a good driver always remembers that everyone else on the road is ****ing crazy. 'dont hit shit' is not realistic when your town has more than 30 people in it. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 183 | hence why i love small towns. i used to live just outta upper north minneapolis. now when i drive down there i get semi-panic attacks. no joke. seeing more than 10 cars on a stretch of road is scary like now. worse is my buddy who has a death wish. he bombs around downtown minneapolis doing 65 on a street limited to 30-35. i just fall asleep so i wont witness it. and if he does crash i'll die in my sleep. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | Oh you can't go bashin my Ford like that. 190K on my 99F250 and the only prob was the heater blower just died. Damn piece of junk. LOL. It spent most of its life 5 miles down a gravel road and on some pretty rough dirt roads and pastures. Now it's semi retired cause I moved into town. Anyway, we can do the Ford vs Chevy thing all day, but Skels question was about a Honda, a Wrangler, and a Sonata. For almost everyone, leasing sucks. Basically you're paying for all the depreciation and they keep the car. I've had really good luck buying 3 or 4 year old Camrys with less than 30k. I've bought 4 of them and they all make it to over 225k if you take care of them (one made it to 300k). Usually the tranny has probs at around 225 and they all burn a little oil at around 100k. you can get them for around $10k. I figure its probably about the same for hondas. You could probably find a decent Wrangler in the 10k range if you go a little older. I want one myself, but the mpg is worse than my 250 and they only seat 4 (when you have 3 kids that matters). Hope that helps, Skel.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 526 | I'm actually considering a Subaru pick up. I saw one the other day and thought it looked bad ass. I'm wondering if I should just wait until things like electric cars start becoming main stream, and just drive this piece of crap until it can't be driven anymore.

Skel... get whatever will suit you best, for work or whatever you will need it for... you have to decide if you want something for fuel economny, or storeage space... or you are interested in a sports type car... it all depends on what would work best for you... ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 396 | anything with moving parts will eventually break down if it's old with a shit ton of miles, and you weren't the original owner (previous owners could've beat the **** out of it and not maintained it well), then yeah, no surprise... no car company is perfect. |
