| FDU Devils Weightlifter | Alright so I've decided, after thinking it through a bit and so. I'm dropping the IMPC. the IMPC's MIP and Novice BB competition, in the coming months would be interferring with my goals in OL, so I'm dropping them. This does not mean I'm going to stop trying to drop weight. I'm doing what I can to lose weight, some extra activity. Going to try and stay on the keto diet, specially cuz some of the cafe food here might have laxatives in it. I'm down to 89.2kg or 196.4lbs. Right now the big goal is to be in the 85kg(187lb) weightclass for competition. I might be doing an October meet in Morrestown. For an overall view, getting into the 77kg(169) class would be optimal. That or work on leaning out in the middle of the 85kg class. The thing is, I wouldn't be able to drop into contest shape (which I know I can do, just gotta put my mind into it), and keep my strength at where I would want it to be in October. I'd like to be able to open w/ 75kg snatch and 90kg clean and jerk. That would be me in a good position to qualify nationals next year for 85kg class. By end of this semester, I want a 90kg snatch and 115kg clean and jerk. I wish everyone else doing this competition the best. I'll enjoy following it. been a pleasure, rommie

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 8 | Are you really good (far above average) at Olympic lifting? I think bodybuilding will be more rewarding for your lifestyle man. In any event, good luck with whatever you choose.

for me, bodybuilding is no fun. So, everyone wants to be lean and look good naked, and yeah I'd like that someday, but honestly, I prefer being strong and training and competing for that. I'm on a sorta recomp anyhow, and I'll get down to where I need in a few years, and be able to keep the muscle I have/gain. Right now, as a beginneer at OL, I am above average. By the time the FDU Open and Garden State games come around early next year, I'll be putting up numbers that would qualify for nationals. By the time the next Olympics roll around, I might even be able to be putting up numbers that would get me into the c or b division. The skys the limit really. and even if I wasn't that good at OL, I'd still prefer it over bb. Its loads more fun. BB just isn't for me, sorry guys.

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | look up Cheryl Hayworth. She's banging (kidding). She's the USA's best bet for a medal in next years Olympics. Natalie Woolfolk is another good bet for a medal, and she's damned good looking. As long as she can hold a good snatch, she will get at least bronze.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | gotta follow your heart I'm sticking through to the end because I said I would, even though it's not necessarily what I want to do most. 2 more months and I can do whatever I want. Since you have a competition coming up soon, it makes sense that you're going to dedicate yourself to that. |

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | I really would like to keep doing this, but the main reason for me to be dropping weight... is to make a weightclass, which I'm almost at. 2.5kgs more and I'm in the 85kg class. It would be nice to make the 77kg class but that would be for maybe the Garden State games in like May 2008. FDU Open in Jan/Feb 2008 will still be to soon, so 85kg for this next meet and the FDU Open. If I stop thinking in lbs and start in kg's, it makes it easier. 77kg ain't that much farther then 85kg. if I kept in this competition, by the end I would be trying to get down to under 77kg by November, which would be bad. To do that I would have to a) cut workouts down to an hr or so, b) switch to a bb workout and c) real cardio. All of which is against OL.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 214 | Why is doing cardio ever not good for training? This makes no sense. Your heart needs to be strong to support the rest of you, it seems so ridiculous to neglect it.

Also, if you hit a heavy ass Snatch, your heart is pounding by the time you drop it. 6 sets of 6 atg back squats w/ 75% of my Max. And thats after 2hrs of lifting and heavy C&J and pulls. =D generally speaking, I drop at least 1kilo in an average workout. =D

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 214 | All I'm saying is that getting on the bike/treadmill/elliptical for 20 minutes a day will make a big difference for you overall, not just in your Olympic lifts. If you want to continue coming up with creative ways to justify not doing cardio then thats fine too. ![]() ps. ZING. ![]()

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | because then I would have committed myself to 2 more months of hardcore dieting to get down to a low bf. And with that low bf, I would lose what little strenght I have in the O-lifts. I need to focus on ONE thing and accomplish that. Right now, its getting down into the 85kg class and then starting to eat more and make some huge PR's before the competition. Once this meet is over, I'm going to work on conditioning to lean out, and then start working my way back into the 94kg class. Thats where I'm going to be for most of my career because thats where my body wants me to be weight wise.

My feet have never been so tough (yay sandals). how about this, when I start back up, I'll hit the gym 2x a day. once for my workout and once for 20 mins on an elliptical. And I'll continue with my racquetball and start swimming more.
