Why do I lose connection every few minutes?

I have a DSL modem with a built in router and every few minutes it has no connection, then it gets it back again periodaclly (sp) I hope someone here knows something about wireless networking, etc because this really annoys me.

I moved it around to other positions but the problem still persists.

I have a wireless and its been acting wierd for me too.

I just moved my tower to face the main modem and it only goes off once in awhile.

Not sure, but it's probably your ISP...... does your connection lag, or do the lights on your router visibley go off?

My internet connection remains active, but the DNS *constantly* dies/times out.... and as weird as this sounds.... going to myspace makes my ISPs DNS freak. (I can ping things by IP but not url.... i can ping my isp, but not the dns.... lol bastards...)

The router is built-in with the modem. The light for connection just turns off then back on after a few minutes. My "PPP" status is up but it just can't find a connection when I look at the modem's main menu in Internet Explorer.

Unplug your modem for 1 to 2 minutes, then plug it back in.... that's like, the best you can do.

Sounds like a very similar problem to mine :yes:

I did already, it fixed the problem for like a day only. I thought it was the wireless at first but I turned that feature off but it still happened. I'm gonna call ISP again today to see what I can do.

well I think I'm gonna buy a thing called a booster for it.

haha you can always put tin foil on it
