Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | In a desperate attempt to make money I've been scribbling up a design document over the past few days for fitness tracking software written in java. (note of interest, i'll have to write my own obfuscator since I'm broke). What I have planned so far is really just the run of the mill stuff. Things that *I* would like to see with an intelligent GUI that slightly alters it's self over time to be more efficient for how each profile uses it. Obviously graphs, charts, tracking, all of that stuff.. export to phpBB/VB code, export to html, possible export to printer, etc etc etc What I want to know is... what do YOU!!!!!!!!! Want to see in fitness tracking software? And please be Specific as possible. It can be anything from being able to select colors of something, to some kind of advanced prediction formula, it doesn't matter as long as you are specific. Example: I would like to be able to choose the alternating colors for the rows of my meal information Example: I would like to be able to compare my bench press lifts and reps weekly and have it tell me the percentage it has gone up or down Example: I would like the program to be able to generate random meals out of the foods listed in my personal database that meet my calorie and macro requirements Obviously the software is still be designed and laid out on notebook paper, I will not write a line of code until the specifications are complete, at which point they will not change. Once the software is done or close to done, I will gladly ask for beta testers for both the full and trial/limited/shareware versions. (I am still undecided on how specifically to license and make money...) If anyone would be interested in sponsoring an adware version, feel free to PM me to discuss it. Reasonable effort will be made to market it upon it's completion. My planned price for full version is between 10-15 dollars depending on feedback from beta testers when it gets to that point. With that said, help a brother out! I'm broke and don't want to go back to working in a supermarket like a dog for low pay. I have 2.5 weeks to lock myself in my room and code my ass off.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 216 | Cool idea Skel. I think making the meal plans, graphs, etc. printable is very important so that you can put them in your training notebook or up on the fridge so you always know what you're supposed to eat at what time.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 60 | Bump to the printable meal plans and charts/graphs. What else? Hmmm... people might find simple calculators for caloric needs, protein requirements, whatever else you can think of, based on training goals (lose fat, gain muscle, maintain), very useful. All of us experienced people already have that stuff down, but inexperinced trainees would find that to be a very valuable tool indeed. What if users could input progress photos and have them linked to points on their weight loss graph, so they could click on a point in the graph and see a photo of themselves at that particular point in their training. That'd be kinda cool and unique. Maybe when the user achieves a goal they've set, a video of Skelooth dancing in his underwear and lip-syncing to Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" pops-up on the screen. You know, as an... uh, reward.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 45 | I'll be 100% honest. Most of all I just want something I can type out which exercises for how many sets and it'll print out a graph with all the names of the exercises on the top, split into colums for each set. Each row being a week. I'd also like to be able to go up to 24 weeks (rows). I currently make them in excel but it takes a long time making columns large enough to write in and add/remove columns for each exercise and then make nice borders of them. I never lift without a duotang of my last ~24 weeks of lifts to refer to as well as record the days lifts. Add in something to print out meal/supplementation plans all nicely with macros for each meal as well as daily totals and you got me.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 11 | Sometimes i forget to plan my meals properly and get through 4 and realise i need x amount of carbs in the next two, can you add a function to offer me suggestions from my list of approved foods, i.e. x, y amounts of rice pasta whatever to meet my goal over the next two meals? Other than that, it would be good to have a thorough search/sort on entered foods so i could see all the foods that are primarily carb, protein, fat so i can pick my carb protein and fat sources for the day with ease. Hmm Hmm thats all for now |

| IronMass Donator | I was halfway searching for such a thing and came across this: http://www.thetrainersedge.com/ads/p...anding2_01.htm Looks pretty complete, but unfortunately no Mac version. The only thing I would add is a way to attach progress photos like MadMan911 suggested. Anyhow, whatever you do had better be* launchable in OS X. I'm assuming it will since you're using Java. ![]() *I know, I know. It's pretty hilarious when programming- and math-impaired folks make demands. ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | Yes, it will be fully functional in MacOS (all versions), which is part of the reason I'm using java. It will run on *everything* 0

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | If you're making it an option to upload progress photos to the software, you might as well make the most of it. How about a morph/slideshow type viewing option for the pictures, so that people could see their progress in succession. This would increase incentive for people to take photos with the same positioning/lighting each time Maybe you could have the user set the amount of seconds for each slide until it morphs onto the next? |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I do plan on incorporating a 'photo gallery' database/mode, but I'm not sure how complicated I want to let it get. I can definitely consider it, and it can definitely be done. The real question I ask, does that add value for you? Is it something you think could 'make or break' someone purchasing the software? Or is it more of a 'hey that'd be a cool extra feature'. Because cool little features might be released seperately for people who own the full version ![]()
