Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | Its looking GREAT. I love the GUI, i ran the jar file and noticed one errorr and maybe two bugs: 1. On deleting the last record, error msg and crash: "Died on foodRecord.deleteRecord(): Negative seek offset 2. Two records can be created with the same name and data: maybe thats ok? 3. Maybe this is how its meant to be but it seems strange: if you are viewing all foods, and then edit>cancel you return to that foods food group page, not to all foods. |

| Amateur | I wouldnt mind seeing something that lifts the weight for you and turns pizza and fettucine alfredo into grilled chicken breast and brown rice once it passes your taste buds. Seriously, i think it all sounds great so far. Good luck making it. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | Thanks lift! I thought I had fixed that nasty little negative offseek issue, i will have another look through it! You absolutely correct, the view needs to be fixed to behave more approrpriately, and I should really add some type of 'this food is already in your database' functionality. How did you all get it to work? Did either of the .bat files work? fnf you didn't follow directions ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | No problem bro, Heres what i did: I extracted all the files opened the bin folder and dbl clicked on testing. I dbl clicked on the batch files just now and neither are working: the error msg for the first is: could not find the main class program will exit. In the dos box that pops up it seems to be trying to run testing from the directory javaw_bin\testing.jar. but i think im correct in saying the file is just in the directory bin. The second error is: cant read and write to dat\food_data.dbt |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I had a grim feeling they woudn't >:O I'm sure a windows shortcut to the jar file would work, when i'm on windows i'll have to investigage =) I'll also have to think of a way to handle that whole double entry issue without comprimising too much performance. My options are either clog up the ram, or grind through the hard drive... hmmmm i guess clogging up the ram is always the better solution.

in the second .bat file, IF you are feeling saucy, open it up in notepad and change the file to cd bin testing.jar and see if that one works. ![]()

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | haha, awesome, thanks lift! you = best alpha tester ever! I didn't want guys on the programming boards to help test for me cos a, it'd make no sense to them, and b, they might steal my idea ![]() Can you tell I made up that small food database? LOL I really need to finish up this food database thingy ma jiggy.... i've done countless hours of work 'behind the scenes' working and reworking how the databasing works. Do you think multiple profiles should share the same food database? Or should every profile have it's own food database? todo for me: Fix offseek buggy, fix view behavior, prevent multiple entries, move on to the daily food journal or something ~>

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | no probs man i love making software break :boink: for the database: I'd like each profile to have its own but have access to a main database in which all the foods are so each user can copy foods over if they wish. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | Damn I'm good, all three reported bugs have been fixed, and I only moderately smell from lack of movement. It even inspired me to do something that will help with performance down the road.
