disappointing for being a huge supporter of the '04 Bush campaign ... I was HUGe in that doing a TON of stuff, flyers, posters, stickers, general door-to-door ...

Where are the elephants eyes?

Neither party wants to see the price go back down.

Higher fuel prices = higher tax revenue

Democrats promising to bring gas price down = more votes in '08

Republicans getting gas price to go down in '07 = more votes in '08

So they sorta both want the price to go down... for their underhanded reasons.

I think Bush has realized he has lost supposrt of the ture conservative base and will now try to regain that vote by changing his politics around; starting with immagration in his upcoming speech.

Yeah, funny thing about bush is that while he ticketed as a radical conservative, he's proven to be VERY moderate.... just moderate enough to piss off the right, but still not moderate enough to be accepted by the left. Bush has single handedly brought the direction of Republican practice into a u-turn.

As for democrats mud slinging.... I seem to remember a lot of mud slinging coming from the right.... specific examples:

Kerry being a flip flopper, because obviously having the intelligence to change your mind after hearing more information is a bad quality to have. Stubborn people are much better suited to ruling the world's most powerful nation.

Any democrat who even made a single little PEEP of noise in protest of going to iraq was labled an 'unpatriotic coward'. The republicans created an air so thick that the very notion of having a differing opinion would be political suicide.

Hmmm, let's see, what mudslinging have the democrats done recently? Well let's see, Schumer (D. New York) is calling for an investigation over the white house and the big oil companies because of the unfair pricing practices. Instead of the oil companies being competitive with eachother they all raise and lower prices in unison....

Oh yeah, and then there's that whole "George Bush is a recovered alcoholic who used to snort coke until he became born again christian, all of his business ventures failed miserabley, and he weasled his way out of vietnam by staying in the air national guard and not even attending that" thing.... damn those democrats for having the nerve to bring that up! It's already written in my history book for US104 class.... it's unacceptable to bring it up again to the public view!

And let's not forget the audacity of the democrats for crying about the 2000 election recount in a state run by some of Bush's strongest supporters with a supreme court decision that was split directly down party lines.

As far as I'm concerned this administration has been full of lies, underhanded illegal practices, and alterior motive BS from the very beginning... and continues today. How about that "no child left behind" act? Hey, we have no money for it right? I mean... we need to give more tax cuts... because we're all determined to prove that trickle down economics work, no matter for how many years they've failed. Right?

:umm: *Whitewater... Vince Foster... paula jones trial perjury... receiving a ''lewinsky'' while discussing sending troops to Bosnia with a member of congress... bombing Iraq one day before impeachment hearings were to commence... pardoning marc rich and other scum... to name just a couple of things. :gtongue:

Ultimately yes and no. Yes it's the same BS, but different motives due to different lobbyists.... had Kerry been elected you can bet your ass there'd be heinz ketchup in every diner from Boston to Hawaii. I can see the headlines now, "State school boards sign contract to buy all their food from Heinz under pressure from the Whitehouse"
