As of 3:30 pm, the Ron Paul campaign had raised $3.4 million dollars today. As a point of interest, there had been 11,580 ‘new’ donors, indicating strong growth in Dr. Paul’s base of support.

At this point it looks like because of the 'Tea Party' Ron Paul will end up pulling in somewhere between 6-7 million dollars for the day, although, a late surge could send it higher. Doing so will put Paul’s campaign in a position to hit the 20 million dollar mark this quarter, which is staggering given Paul only raised just over 5 million in the third quarter.

Ron Paul has out raised all of his GOP opponents this quarter and most likely is sitting on more cash as well. Over 100,000 people have donated to Paul’s campaign this quarter demonstrating his popular support among Republicans.

Strategically Paul’s campaign is in the strongest position now to win the GOP nomination. Unlike his opponents, Paul’s donor base, because it is so huge, isn’t close to being maxed out according to contribution laws. Multi-million dollar fund raising events similar to today are being planned by grassroots organizers not associated with Paul’s campaign for each month leading up to the general election.

The fact that Ron Paul’s campaign isn’t even organizing these events is another indicator of how popular the idea of Ron Paul becoming president is becoming.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's supporters were hoping Sunday for another fundraising bonanza to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.

Called a "Money Bomb," the goal is to raise as much money as possible on the Internet in one day. The campaign's previous fundraiser brought in $4.2 million.

As of 5:30 p.m. EST, donations were approaching $4 million, according to the campaign Web site. Those donations are processed credit card receipts, said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. Benton said the median donation is about $50 in the fundraiser, which was the idea of Paul supporters who are not officially connected to the campaign.

Trevor Lyman, a Paul supporter who is traveling the country following the Ron Paul blimp, said the date of the fundraiser coincides with the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

The Ron Paul blimp is an aerial billboard emblazoned on one side with "Who is Ron Paul? Google Ron Paul." The other side reads "Ron Paul Revolution." The blimp, another grass-roots effort, was in Chester, S.C., on Sunday, and organizers hope to get it to New Hampshire before the Jan. 8 primary there.

The campaign just sent out the word in an e-mail blast to reporters.

"The outpouring of support is astounding. Americans are rallying to Dr. Paul's message and showing that they want a government that respects their rights and protects their freedoms," Paul campaign manager Lew Moore says in that press release.

You might recall that the campaign brought in more than $4 million in one day alone last month -- a one-day record for money raised on the Web.

Over 6 million raised yesterday... and as of right now at almost 18.2 mil, CNN says we should be coming out on top for the 4th quarter.

The average donation... 50 dollars.

Yes 6 million dollars raised with an average of 50 per person. Our money is coming from individuals... not special interest groups or big corps, people are sick of the way things are and the message is getting out whether or not the media is going to mention us or not, in the end it's only going to hurt them.

Bill Clinton said former president George H.W. Bush will help fix damage done to America's reputation by his son, George W. Bush.

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president — Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment on whether the former president would chip in some diplomatic help after his son leaves office next year.

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton's comments:

"In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe," said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. "The American people expect our leaders — both current and former — to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation."
