seems with a national deficit of $250 billion, going another $145 billion deeper wouldn't be the smartest thing to do. and the $300 per person isn't going to do squat to revive the real estate slump (most americans largest asset, and supposedly the reason most americans feel so poor right now, i.e. lower consumer spending).

I don't know how I feel about the program though. On the surface it makes sense..."people aren't spending money, so give them money and they'll spend it." But how much is it going to do? If people are getting boned by their loans and crap 1500 is a drop in the bucket.

I thought it was just $300/person?

I'm all about free money...and definitely will not be turning down a check. but this isn't going to stimulant the economy or motivate consumer spending... like EliteBSU most americans are just going to use it to help payoff their debt, like the last tax rebate that came through in 2001. And paying off debt (which you would think is the responsible thing to do) doesnt put money back in the economy.

I thought it was for people making 3000 a year (aka young people) its 300 bucks. For people under 70,000 a year it was like 1000 or 1200 or so + 200/300 for every child.

The stimulus package is for the lower middle class that can't afford XBoxes. People who make 70k a year typically are not having their house foreclosed, and if they are, they can afford to buy/move to a new one.

Just to clarify my position: I think the economic stimulus package is designed to give wall street a puppet show. This stimulus package does nothing to fix the problems that have caused the economy to slow. Keyword, slow. While I may agree the economy has slowed, I don't think we're anywhere near the recession that the media and politicians are shoving down our throats.
