'One Laptop' a hit in Peruvian village - CNN.com

It's about that '100 dollar laptop'. They are finally finished at a price of $188 each, and this article talks about the response of the laptop in a small poor farming village. It makes me so happy that these people are being connected to the internet and being provided the tools needed to educate themselves.

I have a feeling that this will have a much larger effect than originally forecast. I can see these poor farming people using the internet to learn better growing methods, different crops to grow in off seasons, and most of all, better, faster, and easier ways of purchasing the products they need to turn a profit.

Yes, I would have liked to seen them get food as well as laptops, but I feel that these laptops are going to be very empowering.

That's awesome. I'm so thankful for the fact that everytime I think of something I want to know I can figure out in a few minutes. Past generations had to go to a library and research through tons of books possibly taking hours (if at all) what we can do almost instantly.

And, don't forget the most important thing the internet has given us - instant access to insane amounts of porn. Now all of those kids in Peru can enjoy it too.
