What is scary is that while at a pool party last weekend I met a guy that works out at the same gym I do. Come to find out, he is on this list!!! Scary to know a man that sodomized a 13 year old girl was at this party.

Have you gone to the site and put your address in and looked to see if there were any molesters or rapist in your area?
I think it is VERY important to know if there is a child molester or rapist living near me. I want to know who they are so that i can protect my family. The information is for those of us wanting to protect our families. Do you not see the importance of this information? You said you have a younger brother, what if he was like 10 or 11 or somewhere in that area. Ane there was a child molester on your block, you didnt know it, he befriends the younger brother and tricks him into coming into his house........... it can be avoided if we KNOW where they are and who they are.

It seems pretty naive to think that just because you know that criminals are out there you can prevent them from doing these terrible things.

I understand where you're coming from, but respectfully disagree with the absolute utility of this information. Protecting your family is a very touchy subject so I want to make it clear that I'm not just trying to piss you off or play devil's advocate, I just don't think this info is as useful as you believe it is.

so you know where to go when you need some action.... you could also try your local sexaholics anonymous meetings.

nah, I don't really find this info useful either... I've looked at it before. I'm not going to remember their faces or addresses, unless it was my next door neighbor or something. If I had a young daughter and some older guy tried to befriend her, I'd be cautious about it. When it comes to some creep trying to son/daughter/little sister/brother into his house, they're probably up to no good in my opinion. I really don't see a realistic and practical use for this information. I see it more as 'peace of mind' information - knowing where some of the creeps are at (the ones that got caught). Maybe if I didn't live in a large city, but rather in a tiny town where everyone knew each other, it would be a little more useful to me.....

well, sorry you guys feel it is useless. but i find it very helpful. especially when the fkr that i met last weekend had a sodomy on a 13year old girl charge and the people he hangs out with have kids (girls) about the same age. If i knew i would tell him to go away and not come back.

I'd say the info is useful in my opinion. If you have children, and you find out one of your neighbors was a convicted child molester, you could make sure your children don't talk to that person, and make sure they keep their distance.

Another example would be a single woman with a child. Without something like that list she could be dating a guy who had been convicted of molesting a child, and have no idea.

My opinion is that it doesn't hurt to check it out.

Well I found it very useful, since I am at home alone at night most nights... I found out that within about a 100 yards from my apartment, there is a guy who has been convicted of raping 4 different women..

If you find someone that close to you, it is scary... and makes me take the precautions to make sure that if I have to go out at night.. that I have something or someone close by.. that I can protect myself from people like this..

We cant stop all the bad things.. but we can take the needed precautions to help keep ourselves and our family a little bit safer.. if we know where these guys are at...
