Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | Have you ever played Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind? If so, then you've ALREADY played oblivion. Basically, Oblivion is a reincarnate of Morrowind with a face lift and a bunch of voice acting. The signs/classes/skills/leveling system has been left untouched and precisely the same. The world is expansive and somewhat 'blah' after the initial "wow strong landscape" shock. But what's really over hyped... is... THE GRAPHICS!!!! WOW! It is really NOTHING special! I will admit that the lighting is second to none that I've seen so far (though I still have not cracked open the new lighting technology in HL2:epsiode1) And the engine is capable of rendering HUGE fluid landscapes full of lush swaying trees and vegetation that looks out for virtual miles. The character models (like in morrowind) are poorly done compared to a lot of other games. Bethesda spent way too much time playing around with ways to make faces dynamic. Everyone's eyes are way too shiny, and lips do not look fluid while speaking. Not to mention the shape of everyone's head is just.... slightly peculiar. The badguys look cool though. Performance of the engine is HORRID. In order for me to get an acceptable framerate I have to drop the resolution down to 800x600 with 2x anti-aliasing. Fortunately the engine really does do a nice job of rendering, so even at the low resolutions there is not a pixely looking block or line anywhere to be found. Also, things in the game are... just too shiny in general. It's like they wanted everything to be shiny ![]() The physics in the game also blow.... bad. Walking into a table will cause a paper scroll to fall off like a heavy rock, while heavy shields will lay flat with only it's edge on a table. The game does have it's good points... namely it's freakin enormous, lots of voice acting for every character in the game... and after all, it's like a repeat of morrowind, which was and is a fantastic game. Graphics: 8/10, some very impressive eye candy effects, The engine renders beautifully but the games graphics are flawed by the character models. Sound: 10/10, Not much to say, just about every modern game these days has great sound and sound effects. Considering the sheer amount of voice acting, it's done very well. Intuitiveness: 4/10, Oblivion brings very little of anything new to the table. Graphics performance: You'd need an absolute MONSTER of a computer to run this thing at max settings with an acceptable frame rate. The graphics just aren't worth the amount of computer power they demand. I'd like to see Bethesda start using an engine that values performance, and is more scalable to better suit different set ups. Player control: 6/10, Yuck, it's the same flaw from Morrowind. Fighting seems unnatural, magic is way under powered/useless unless it's highlevel, and you can't tell if you are in striking distance or not. Zooming out into 3rd person view only makes it worse.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 45 | It was a fun game. You just hate it because it brings your new computer to it's knees. LOL. I agree that it shouldn't though, there's something messed up in the engine for sure.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 31 | Weird- I thought I was the only one still playing this (albeit on the Xbox 360). Actually, I'll agree with most of your review. Graphics are amazing- especially the sceneries. I would have given it a solid 8 there, except at the peak of dawn and dusk it does look stunning. I like the 'shinyness'- it adds to the 'fantasy' atmosphere I feel. I also agree that magic is underpowered, but maybe that's because I like to chop shit up?! Same with archery in the higher levels. Also Jesnine of Jesnine's Good as New Merchandise in the Imperial City makes me horny :bed:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I take it back, this game is a freakin perfect 10. After being level 15... closing an oblivion gate, killing a vampire, and being in the midsts of damn near INFINITE quests and "things to do", I'd have to say this game is freakin AWESOME, I'll already planning what my next character will be like.

Unfortunately my problem is a proper glitch that is unfixable on the Xbox Innevitable that there will be one or two contradictary events in such a big game.
