Default Minor Consumption Charge

Last night three of my friends and I went camping. We had alcohol.

About two beers in, a Sheriff rolls up to our campsite, asks us if we had a pass to camp at the lake we were at. We say "no." I had no idea you even needed one and my friend and his girlfriend had a pass from her sister, which was expired.

He then asked us if we had been drinking. We said "no." He said he had heard glass bottles being thrown (which happened as he was pulling up). We said we didn't know anything about that. He then asks if he'd find any alcohol if he searched around, to which my friend replied, "You might."

So the cop says these exact words: "Pack up your belongings and pour out your liquor, you're no longer welcome here."

As we're pouring out all the beer, he takes or IDs and uses a breathalyser on all four of us. No one blew above a .03 thankfully. So we wait, he comes back and gives us all tickets for "Minor Consumption" and starts his speech about how he's doing us such a huge favor. He then tells us to wait around for about an hour, drink water, and then get out of there. We still had to leave the campgrounds.

Obviously my friends and I are not going to fight the charge. We're pleading guilty. My question is, can the cop get in trouble for this? He made my friend and I drive while we were intoxicated. We didn't have the option of staying overnight.

no, the cop is all good You all blew below a .03, and were told to wait one hour and drink water.

Man that story reminds me of my younger years

He then asks if he'd find any alcohol if he searched around, to which my friend replied, "You might."

LOL
