Default Looking for a good blender

Hey everyone,

I am looking to purchase a new blender for protein shakes. I want one that is going to last. Anyone have good experiences with theirs? Budget is $200.

Wow a $200 blender... I always buy the $9.99 specials. Then again I'm a poor college student. I can get 20 blenders for $200

I've had this one for a year and 8 months and it has been great:
http://kitchenaid.com/catalog/produc...&productId=395

the only thing is, i bought it refurbished:
http://shopkitchenaid.com/product_de...KTA+RRKSB5SSWH

the refurbished has a 6 month warranty i think (mine did)

I use it every single day to blend up "smoothies" (ice, protein, water, frozen fruit) in the morning and have had no problems with it.

See, I bought the $9.99 version at Target...only problem is that the motor was a piece of poo so the freaking thing started smoking and smelling after having it for about 6 months. I've had it for about 4 years now and I think its time to drop some change on a good one. But damn dude you could buy a really really pissed off blender for $200. I'd suggest looking at www.cooking.com...they have about a zillion blenders and reviews/ratings of each one. Make sure you get one with a glass pitcher and a powerful motor otherwise it'll die when you make a thick shake.

my wallmart special always does it for me.... three bananas and a scoop of whey...

you don't need the torque for protein shakes anyway.

When I toasted mine I had 2 cups of milk, 2 cups of ice cubes, 2 scoops of whey, and 2 Tbsp of peanut butter in there...not a whole lot, but my blender started smoking and shaking and hasn't stopped since.

If you don't require large amounts of volume, I love the Bullet. We bought it severral months ago and we use it about 6 times/day. Small, super fast, easy cleanup, we love it. Bought one for our parents as well.

i saw a blender they reviewed in mens fitness that was about 189 or something and man did it have some power to it. stainless steel, sharp looking and durable.

i have a wal-mart mini blender that is PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT for making a shake. its small and portable, the wire wraps around the bottom, i love it.

though i mostly use a shaker bottle now.

:nosthumbs Thank you for all the replies!!!! I will be moving to Florida in the Fall for college....this thing will get lots of use! I am looking at a few on eBay right now. They are a lot cheaper. I lost out on a 3hp blender, lol. Someone outbid me. A 3hp one would be rediculous! I think I am going to get one under $100 and use the extra money for something else.
Thanks!
Aaron

im telling you bud, wal-mart hamelton beach mini blender get the job done for 15 bucks. witht he extra money you could buy a lot of protein to use in the blender. though if you plan on chopping ice and stuff while in college i might advise against it.
