Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 74 | word, the college "experience" was fun but I hated being broke all the time. once you can start working after school and banking some money things are just alot easier. and skel I think I remember you were doing programming or something? you'll be banking some serious loot after school. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I'm already starting to get lucrative opportunities I've been doing full time programming all summer. I have about a year and a half left before my BA, then I was originally intending on getting an MS, but if I get a lucrative job... I'll stay with the BA ![]()

How is the job market for BA's vs MS's in programming and CS?

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | There's only a select few jobs I've seen offered that overtly required (or even preferred) an MS. A lot of programmers I talk to say not to even bother, which makes me consider not getting it. I'm pretty sure an MS would make me more valuable though. And lucrative is a lot of Comp Science graduates with 4 year degrees starting off between 60k-80k a year right out of college.

60-80k is a great starting point, for sure. I think you'd be well served by working for a couple years after graduation and then evaluating whether or not you really need the MS to achieve your career and personal goals; either way, with a couple years experience I think the MS will be a lot more valuable to you as a learning tool, similar to getting an MBA straight out of undergrad vs getting an MBA a few years down the line.
