Damn man you just reminded me that I had to sign up for classes and I might have to drive down to the school to get a paper I may have lost...

Skel you'll enjoy working more after you graduate and can make a lot more money. How much longer do you have?

word, the college "experience" was fun but I hated being broke all the time. once you can start working after school and banking some money things are just alot easier. and skel I think I remember you were doing programming or something? you'll be banking some serious loot after school.

I'm already starting to get lucrative opportunities I've been doing full time programming all summer. I have about a year and a half left before my BA, then I was originally intending on getting an MS, but if I get a lucrative job... I'll stay with the BA

I guess it depends on your definition of lucrative...I'm pretty much never satisfied just because I'm so competitive so an MBA is kind of a requirement for me.

How is the job market for BA's vs MS's in programming and CS?

There's only a select few jobs I've seen offered that overtly required (or even preferred) an MS. A lot of programmers I talk to say not to even bother, which makes me consider not getting it.

I'm pretty sure an MS would make me more valuable though.

And lucrative is a lot of Comp Science graduates with 4 year degrees starting off between 60k-80k a year right out of college.

skel, I can't wait to get back b/c I HAVEN'T been working.

If i could get freelance work, I'd be making some decent money.

I'm hopign to start making 400/day when I get out.

Sounds like you should just get a job when you graduate and get your MS if and when you need it. Honestly I think CS is a field where the MS could easily price you out of jobs if you don't have a few years of experience under your belt.

60-80k is a great starting point, for sure. I think you'd be well served by working for a couple years after graduation and then evaluating whether or not you really need the MS to achieve your career and personal goals; either way, with a couple years experience I think the MS will be a lot more valuable to you as a learning tool, similar to getting an MBA straight out of undergrad vs getting an MBA a few years down the line.
