...Gas prices suck right now.

I understand a reason we had the war, but enough is enough IMO.

Well they aren't high if you consider prices around the world. Americans just depend on cars more for their day to day life than in other countries. I just got back from Berlin last week and regular gas was around 1.299 Euros per liter, in other words just over $5/gallon when taking the current exchange rate into consideration.

OMG I was watching the news tonight and they were talking about how the high gas prices were affecting not only people here in Canada but down south in the US too. They were interviewing this woman as she walked around a Grocery store talking about all the sacrifices she has to make now that gas cost's her $64 a week. She said that she no longer buys her kids toy's and only buys cheap food's and bulk stuff. She said she leaves her kids at home because if she brings them they will only bug her to buy stuff she can't afford to buy them. I'm thinking man times are tough for the less fortunate. Then at the end of the story they show her climb into her 2005 $55,000.00 Yukon XL Denali and drive off. WTF!!! Me--> :abuse: <--loser woman

It currently costs me about $60.00 a week on average. If I go fishing during that week, it almost doubles when you add the drive back and forth from the lake and gas in the boat.

My problem is the fact that during the last year of the Clinton Administration the average gas prices were 1.18 in the United States. Within 6 years it has gone up almost 230%. The question is why in 100 years of gas usuage it onlly went up 1.18 but in 6 years it has gone up that much?

It's all about supply and demand. The U.S. always has been and will continue to be the biggest user of petroleum on the planet. 100 years ago there wasn't as many developed countries using gas.

a lot of shit has happened over those years, and that someone has no control over it. china and india are growing at huge exponential rates which demends oil to continue. the need for oil not only by the US but around the world has gone up, hence oil prices are going higher and will continue to do so until something happens (and right now i can think of a few things that could happen).

dont go straight to blaming Bush, contrary to popular belief not everything is his fault.

China's the cause of it. 2 billion people just dont feel like riding bikes anymore. Although, taxis are still the predominant form of transportation there, its very cheap.

Lol... I think this is funny, and I didn't say Bush in any of the words I used, I just said during this adminstration gas prices have gone up over 200%. I never said once that Bush was the reason. So lets look deeper into this.

If demand has increased 260% across the world in today's society then I would understand for the increase. Maybe I can find an example of how much demand has been in the last 5 years.

While fighting in a war in a country that produces oil has it's chief capital income for the country, we have totally shut down a lot of their production. If we would have let the United Nations do weapons checks in IRAQ, we would have never had to fight this war, allowing their oil production to increase or atleast be the same as it once was. Also we have caused problems with many of the middle east countries that produce oil, to them, we aren't fighting iraq, we are fighting everything they believe in, so that definitely doesn't help us get a discount from OPEC.

It would be the same thing if we are the biggest supplier of Lumber in the world, and say Germany was the biggest demander of lumber in the world, and they declare war with us. We stop producing as much lumber so lumber costs go up around the world, and Germany bitches about not getting cheap lumber. That is us today.

And the bad thing is, we are screwing up the whole worlds gas prices. Sweden has the highest gas costs in history, we are, and of course everywhere else is paying extremely high amounts for oil. Wow, no wonder other countries don't like us.

Then you go countries like India who can't afford oil because of how high the prices are and they are mixing kerosene and other combustable fuel with their gasoline to run engines, which are producing some of the nastiest smog ever created. Guess what, if prices weren't so high, this smog would be less apparent.

And for everyone who probably thinks I know nothing about history, or economics/business you are wrong.

minor in world history, economics (international and domestic), with a degree in Marketing (may 2005) and MBA in Business (May 2006).

Also would like to put in that not all of it is Bush's fault, it is the cabinet members, and intelligence who put us in jeopardy in IRAQ. If we had perfect intelligence, we would have known better than attack iraq with no set game plan after the "fight" was over.

This is probably a topic better left undiscussed... the pic I put up was a joke.. I thought it was funny.. because of how the prices are right now.. but lets not get into who is fighting where and why and who's fault it is.. it is just going to end up in an arguement.. so lets put a stop to it now...
