Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 11 | Im moving out next year to share a house with four others.. i dont see why it will affect my active healthyish lifestyle since its more important to me than partying!! Dorms will probably be noisy so that might not help. I guess it depends on you and how much you want it. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | We'll find out bro! I am going to be dorming next fall.... and I am determined to do nothing but make progress while there. I don't care if I have to live off of tuna fish and oatmeal lol. I think it can be done. As long as you have a fridge, and a microwave.....

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 220 | It is really a struggle. The food on campus is generally the greasiest junk food in town, so be prepared to go off campus if you're eating out. I expect that you'll have a car since you'll be in grad school, so that should make it easier. If you can find one of the dorm-sized fridges that have a separate freezer section that would help as well: good for storing oats and chicken. In spite of its having been recognized as having the best on-campus food in the country, I found the food at Wash U to be absolute crap. Chicken fingers, mozarella sticks, pizza, etc. and all of it lousy to boot. If you're lucky they'll have grilled chicken and a form of potatoes that isn't fried in oil. Are you sure you have to live in a dorm? Its cheaper to live in an apartment plus you get a kitchen and full size fridge. Most schools require freshmen to live on campus but I doubt they have such requirements for graduate students.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 41 | i just assumed i would be living in a dorm.i will be working part time and going to school full time(so i wont be able to eat out at a steak house 5 times a day). i need a place where i can keep all of my food(which is a lot on a weekly basis) 32 cans tuna 2 containers of oatmeal 3 cartons of eggs 4 containers of cottage cheese 3lbs of steak natural pb 5mixed vegatables 2cheese 2salsa 2 gallons of milk a dorm is a lot different than moving into a house with your friends, seeing as how you still have a place to cook and put your food

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 73 | with most colleges ive seen the cafe obviously isn't the most nutritious place in the world but what i have done was i used to make my own meals out of the healthy stuff in the cafe. there is always a salad bar (or should be), there are always meat like turkey and RB for sandwiches, pasta was always being made, and fruit was always out there so i would mix and match everything in the cafe to make it healthy. im sure unless you go to a college with the worst food service in the country these options should be open to you. and of course i also had stuff in my room and fridge so i could get my 6 meals ED. plus i had good weight gainer shakes around.

| Pro Stature | I'm glad I never experience dorm life. Because I went to a community college before transferring, I was able to live off campus. Can't stand being around people a lot. Some colleges, including UT here, actually have "dorms" with full cooking equipment. Sure you have to share it with 4 people, two per bedroom, but at least you get a stove! It's more like an apartment then a dorm. Most grad students live on campus in dorms because that's where they spend 99% of their time. They are either working with a prof, in a lab, or on papers. My cousin did that because it was cheaper and he had a bunch of friends doing the same. They were lucky to sit down and watch TV a few hours a week with their work load.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 4 | Dude are you kidding me??? All you can eat buffet at the cafeteria rocks. They give you many choices. It is not their fault if you dont like the way the baked chicken tastes. If you are going to be in a dorm it sounds like you really arent going to be working that much at all either. You should look at is this way, You Best Gains Should Come To You While You Are At School. You dont have to work 10-12hr days and make a 45min commute to and from work. I consider you lucky to be able to stay on campus for your graduates degree.

| Pro Stature | Why don't you just live off campus and rent an apartment with a friend or something. Everyone I know says they're gonna dorm and stuff but isn't living off campus renting a better route? |

I put on so much weight from my bulking cycle while eating school food :P Depending on your school there is some decent food available. I ended up sneaking lean chicken breasts out of the cafeteria just about every day. Was good times :P
