Default Dog The Bounty Hunter Arrested

'Dog The Bounty Hunter' Arrested, Faces Extradition

POSTED: 1:54 pm EDT September 14, 2006
UPDATED: 2:12 pm EDT September 14, 2006

MSNBC has learned that U.S. officials have arrested TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two family members for extradition to Mexico.

Chapman's wife told MSNBC's Rita Cosby that heavily armed U.S. marshals arrived at the family's house today and took away Chapman, his brother, Tim, and son, Leland.

Cosby said she was told that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case.

In 2003, the Chapmans went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges.

Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term, but at the time, the Chapmans were also jailed by Mexican authorities for a brief time three years ago.

Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

At the time, the Chapmans were charged by Mexican authorities with illegally capturing Luster. The three returned to the United States after posting bail of their own.

bahahahaha. Some time in a Mexican jail will teach those weirdos a thing or two. Hopefully they realize that they're a huge joke to the entire state of Hawai'i and they'll stop that damn tv show.

I'd love it if someone did the same as Dog, just with a gun....

Well I'm all for cleaning vermin from the street...but come on, you gotta abide by laws otherwise you're no better than the people you're trying to catch, right?

What sort of silly law is that? The guy is a freaking rapist. When you've got pedofiles like that one who claimed he killed Jon Benet Ramsey getting out of jail you know you have something wrong with your system. When you've got guys like that scumbag who is now serving a 124 year term living free, something is wrong. Mexico is one of the most corrupt countries around, I wouldn't hold much credence to any of their "laws."

Just because you believe Mexico's system is flawed doesn't mean that their laws mean nothing. Regardless of whether you think the laws are right or wrong, their laws deserve just as much respect as our own. You can't just go somewhere, do whatever you want, find out you broke a law and then say "well that doesn't count because your laws are stupid." What makes Dog above the laws that 107,000,000 citizens of Mexico are required to abide by?

I don't think that rapists should be roaming around...nor do I think that pedophiles should be running around. I agree that what Dog has done brought some benefit to the common good. I also think that no one is above the law, regardless of their purpose. Exceptions for mitigating circumstances are acceptable, but what was Dog's reason for breaking the law? He was getting paid. The only reason he went to go get this guy is the money. Take away the money and i can guarantee he wouldn't have gone to Mexico. See what I'm saying?
