| Pro Stature | So, some of you think I am mean. I have been crabby, but most of the time my posts are read wrong. I am sorry for that. The past two days I have had some confrontations that may make me an asshole. The first... I was riding bike. I was crossing an intersecting and an old lady in a van honked at me. I got off of my bike and started yelling at her. She had a stop sign and had no reason to honk at me. (I was in the act of crossing before she reached the stop sign.) I was yelling as loud as I could telling her that she had a stop sign and that she had no reason to honk at me. I never gave her a chance to say much, I was steamed. There is really only so much you can take from terrible drivers. People yelling at me to ride on the sidewalk even though I am not slowing traffic. People honking when I follow the law. Etc. The Second... Two friends and myself were applying fake tatoos at Walmart when a fat lady said, "And how old are you?" in a really bitchy tone. My friend said something to the effect of, "Not too old, yet." (He is friendly.) After that comment the lady shook her head and mumbled something rude. My response, "And how much do you weigh?" Sadly she kept walking and another fat lady behind her heard me and said. "What did you say to her?" So, I told the 2nd fat lady that the first fat lady wasn't being friendly like the 2nd fat lady assumed. Then the 2nd fat lady walked away. Damn that is a lot of fat and I should keep my mouth shut sometimes. |

| IronMass Vip | In the state of Ohio at least, bikes are technically considered street vehicles, not sidewalk. You have every legal right to ride them in the street, just not on the highway due to minimum speed limits. Yelling at bitches and returning smartass comments does not make you a bastard, it makes you hilarious.

| IronMass Vip | I totally agree, retest at 65, every two years till 75, then every year thereafter. I know some people might think this unfair, but it truely is a blessing for the family, as elders tend to become extremely hostile and even combative with the caregiver/family member that has to be the one to discuss it with them. It is a symbol of adulthood and independence to us that we can drive, and particularly to elders, they cling to anything they can to give them a sense of self-reliance and sufficiency. Letting the BMV decide allows them to be the 'bad guy'. Seniors become much more easily distracted and disoriented, and reaction time slows. And, depending on health, some of them are on so many prescriptions I'm suprised they still remember their own name half the time. Now, there are exceptions, but they should have no problem passing. This is why it's not just a mandatory "you're 75 turn in your license". My grandma, at 82, is still a great driver. But she only drives places she's extremely farmiliar with, and never at night. If they all had common sense like that, and knew when to throw in the towel, we wouldn't have problems with this. Of course, there will always be assh*le drivers, no matter what.
