damn computers

Every few months my computer gets hit by some spy/mal/grey ware.

this time its pretty bad. i've hit it with everything i've got and its still there. i can only boot up now with safe mode.

i used trend micro on safe mode and it allowed me to get back on with a normal boot, then when running another virus scan it stopped everything and went into this blue screen saying physical memory dump.

i need to get it fixed for the IMPC

copy all your important data off in safe mode and then format that mofo. And get some angrier antivirus and firewall software.

do you have AVG personal anti-virus? thats a damned good anti-virus. boot into safe mode w/ networking and download it and run it yo

go to control panel and add/remove programs, there might be some adware programs on there

only use it every once in a while, when i want a single insted of a whole cd.

within 5 seconds of starting up AVG it gave me a virus warning. said it was in the system memory, i sent it to quarentine and then everything went down.

i cant boot in safe mode, wont boot at all

NOW YOU TELL ME.

well i got into system restore and got it back to its out-of-box splender.

got my interweb back up and running. with 3 hours less work than it took my old man the first time.

now i have to get all my websites back on here, youtube, discovery channel.

lost all my pictures though, family friends and what not. its the only things thats upsetting to me

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) but you can restore back to a point where you had those pictures, save them and restore back to where It works.

Yeah, restore is usually meant to keep file system in tact with just changing computer config and not removing personal files ...

well. its up and running somewhat.

but now she loses internet connection in 3 minutes and freezes in 5. i'm so on the look for a new system in the next month.

guess i'm using the old mans desktop for the first couple months of the IMPC

Have you tried just saving stuff you want and just use the master restore disks that came with the computer? Do a master re-install then IMMEDIATELY install your virus scan. Then make sure to do ALL updates from Microsoft. ASAP after that get Microsoft windows defender it is a decent FREE spyware blocker with LIVE blocking capabilities. Whose your ISP. Many cable internet providers give free anti-spyware and virus protection w/ services. I have McAfee through comcast both anti-spyware and virus and it works great.

(if that does not work go to microsoft.com then click downloads and trials goto the download center and get windows defender.) You can try and get it right now without restoring as it is Microsoft so it has more access to operating system than anything else and properly repair almost anything. Including resetting your internet explorer to remove spyware settings) also search and download a program called hijack this. It will tell you all settings for your internet explorer and check for certain spyware stuff.
