CS was my fave game ever.

The new CS:Source is also very damn good. I'm thinking about getting it again now that I have a real fast connection. Anyone here wanna play with me?

I've played CS since 1.3 and the transition from 1.5 -> 1.6 almost killed me. Then they went and screwed around with the AWP because some whiner on the Steam forums was tired of getting owned in pubs. I played CAL for a while, then got irritated by all of the immature morons hacking so that they could move up a division, so I played OGL with some buddies and kicked ass. We basically just played like it was a pub except we were able to talk on Ventrilo...was some of the funnest CS I ever played.

My machine struggles to run Source, which is fine by me because I really don't like it. The AK is awful...spraying is completely uncontrollable. I think what really turned me off to the game was when I was awping from the pit at long A on de_dust2 and i got headshotted and killed by a guy in the bomb site with a pump shotty.

How do you guys feel about the changes they made from 1.6 to Source? The new flashes are BRUTAL.

I love the new flashes! So REAL!!!!

I like the purty graphics. I hear you, it isn't the same as the original, the new one requires more finesse. Great fun if you ask me.

yeah, all of the major tournaments are still using it. There was talk about a "pro mod" that removed the awp delay and stuff like that to make it more 1.3-ish and make the game more exciting to watch...unfortunately, Valve refused to support it and the creators wound up halting their work on it.

The CPL had a $500,000 purse for the CS 1.6 tournament this past winter...people LOVE that damn game.

funny you should mention warcraft...DoTA has become my game of choice cuz I got bored of playing CS in pubs.

I've always wanted to play CS but I hate payin for games. Is there any "free" (I know nothings free... legally) versions of CS (i.e. no cd required)? I loved playing it on Xbox at my friends house, but I've never found a CD Free version for computer.

Bad idea. Each online player must be authenticated. Yes there are workarounds, but if you are caught with a hacked authentication, and most servers automatically check for authentication, then you will be banned. Remember, there is a centralized registry of good/hacked authentication, so it takes next to no time for you to lose ability to play on any real servers. Then you are left with only access to cheater servers. Which takes the fun out of the game, seriously.

PLUS, THE GAME IS ONLY $10.00.... You absolutely have to agree that it is incredible value for the fun.

holy shit the source game engine sounds badass. i have not played a pc game since team fortress classic.i kicked a lot of ass(killing snipers with the knife) as the spy on the 2fort map

The new version is stupidly fun...graphics are amazing and gameplay is pretty solid. I didn't play the old one much so I can't lament the changes like I do with CS
