Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 99 | so i just got a new computer, maybe 2 months old. recently i got home and it was on. i tried to go on the net and it froze, so i turned it off and it wouldnt boot back up. it says windows error recovery. i think it was that stupid ****in POS windows update crap, so ****in annoying. probably was DLing during the freeze. i think it said someting was not properly installed or something was uninstalled or some crap it takes me to a screen which says start windows normally, or some other option that tries to repair the problem i go to start normally, it just goes up to the loading screen and stays there. i go to the only other option, and it goes past the loading screen, but again doesnt do anything (black screen) i dont think its a virus

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | boot it in safe mode (press F8 before the OS loads->select Safe Mode) and disable the device in the device manager or unistall whatever you installed.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | What do you mean by black screen, and what errors do you get specifically? You can try seating and unseating the hard drive and ram to see if it's a connection problem. or I believe you can type something like bootfix or similiar on the recovery cd to try and recreate the boot sector. It may have become corrupted some how. Otherwise since it's a new computer you may just want to boot with the windows cd inside and reinstall everything. Then you should get a firewall and antivirus programing immediately after installing windows updates. The other option is the ultimate boot disk (google it) which is a live windows that will load up into ram for you. Using that you will have access to the hard drive so that you can fix anything that is preventing it from booting up.
