I drive a Ford F250 powerstroke diesel. You'll never catch me sitting in a Chevy and I would never consider owning a Dodge.

I have had both. I have a 2001 dodge Stratus ES now, please don't get one, it wasn't very good. I did have an old ford truck (1984), it ran very well, just burned some oil. My mom has a ford taurus and has had good results with that. My dad has a 2004 Ford F250. he likes it a lot. Just some ideas.

LOL, this took off fast.

John, 7.3 liter PSD? If so, what year -- I think you mentioned before it was a mid-90's?

Dustin, is your dads truck a diesel? Has he had any major problems? Drive it a lot?

Truck I'm planning to buy is a 99-2001 F250 crew with a Diesel. Yes, I am planning to tow (specifically a racecar trailer and a trailer full with a cord or two of wood).

People tell me to worry about insurance but either way, whatever I check is going to be aorund $2,000 a year for me give or take about $250. Might aswell play with the big boy toys!

My old man has a 03 Ford PS Turbo Diesel Larriet Edition thing...He tows things all the time (he travels for work and tows his big ass trailer behind it everywhere) so far no problems. My friend has a Chevy 3500 (I think thats the one) Turbo Diesel he also tows trailers all the time cuz he and his family race snowmobiles they tow this big ass enclosed trailer that holds like 6 sleds and tools...Never had any problems and both these vehicles can get up and go while towing.

Here is my ride. It's sort of a Truck.

- This is not my actual ride, but it's the only pic I could find that had all the same options as mine. This one is identical in every way that I can see to mine, except that I also have satellite radio installed on the dash.

EME needs to change his name to Bling Bling. I can see EME infront of his fireplace sipping expensive wine out a gold cup laughing at me. Not even caring its too hot outside for a fire because he has the AC turned down to 60. :p

It's a 1997 so yes, it is a 7.3 PSD. I'd love to trade it in for a new one but that damn thing just keeps running. I've got 180K on it now and it runs like new. 250K miles on a diesel is comperable to about 100K on a gas engine so expect it to last a long time. The 99-03 versions of this engine are only slightly different, and they are all pretty stout. If you want to know the details of what they changed I'll post it for you. My parents have a 2000 and it tows great (they tow a 12K# fifth wheel RV).

Here's the ride I'm going to get for my lovely wife in the next year or so.

Although... I may be fighting her to drive it.

Hey, I'm down to 99-2001 / Crew Cab / 4x4 -- but debating diesel or V10

Don't get the V10, they suck down the gas. Expect almost double the mileage in the PSD over that V10. I know people that own the V10 and most of the time the mileage is in the single digits. Won't tow as well either. The diesel makes gobs of low end torque, way more than the V10. The mileage gap will be even greater when towing, and the diesel will last much longer and hold it's value better over time.
