Brother Getting Shipped Out

My brother told me today that he was getting shipped out to Afghanistan in November... Kind of hard to take, I don't want to see anything happen to him.

Army National Guard, so he's in for relief, but he will be in the front lines.

Better then Iraq. At least the Afgan front is relatively calm in comparison to there. Canada seems to be in the worst of it and they are a small force compared to the US. They are holding their own.

Mmm... Thats the thing, he'll be on a "tour" first Afghanistan, then Kuwait I think he said, and lastly Baghdad.

Hmm..well the first two should be decent and with the push they have on Bagdad now it should be more stable by the time he arrives there. The odds are in his favor that he'll return home safe and sound.

It's a risky job no doubt about it but you have to have faith and prey for the best. I think it's pretty natural for you to worry.

Not sure how that's gonna work. They don't usually move them around so much. I can sea Afghanistan and then Kuwait but not the move to Baghdad.
I don't know what kind of unit he is in but unless he is involved in a transportation unit he shouldn't be moving so much.
I do wish him a safe deployment and a safe return home though. DF is right in saying that Afghanistan is better than Iraq.
