Bit Torrent is slow no matter wtf I do...

Wether it's on windows or linux, at home or at school.... why does my bit torrent go so freakin slow???

I get on average between 20 to 50 kb/s ... yet when i download porn or software updates I usually get around 350 kb/s, so I KNOW the bandwidth is available...

I was using utorrent, and... it wasn't working well at all, and a lot of other clients would block me for some reason. Now I'm using bitornado which is not getting blocked but still suffers from the same speed flaw

i dont know wth a torrent is but i know 350kb is fast i only get 95 tops *wireless, downloading porn lol at least your honest

bittornado is great, my guess is your have your settings as Superseed or seeder, you need to play with the settings or you'll get crap dl rates. Also all BT's start out slow but after about 3-4 mins the speed will really kick up depending on the # of seeds.

Wannabestrong, I am on a T3, my upload speed makes out at about 5mb/s, but people only download from me on torrent at like 2-5kb/s

DF, it is set as 'automatic', I set it to T1 and it didn't make an difference.

click unlimited then change your max uploads to 1.

The minimum uploads is 4, but i guess it doesn't matter b/c no one is downloading from me anyway. I'm getting 25kb/s .... and connected to 3 seeds. Booooo.

Must be dsl or cable then where you can set it to 1 or 2. Anyway my guess then is you have a firewall or virus protection that is filtering the data and slowing the flow.

nope, no firewall or virus protection on my end. I wonder if my ISPs filter the data to priority levels.... I know they do it for games.

ISPs can actually set priority levels depending on what you're using your bandwidth for. Webpages take precedence over video games, things like MMORPGs are at the bottom of the ladder as funny as that is.

I don't use bit tornado, so I don't know what type of settings/features it allows you to manipulate... but most times its just trial and error until you find what works best. I use an earlier version of Azureus that does not zap my ram like the newer versions do.

I'd take a look at the number of connections from others that you allow on torrents you seed. Then I'd limit my upload to around 100kb/s to see if that has any effect on your download speed. How does it compare to the swarm average?

Also take a look at the site your downloading from, if its a well-traveled public site like torrentspy, most users do not upload to a 1:1 ratio (leechers) or they limit their uploads to very low speeds. Most of the time if I'm sitting there watching my torrent download I'll just prune away people who I'm uploading to who are not sharing (sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't).
