Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 20 | Anyone have problems with back spasms? If so, any recommendations on what other exercises I should be doing? At this point I'm ready to try just about anything. I do hit the lower back to try to build the muscles there. I'm currently seeing a Chiropractor. Hopefully, this is one step closer to resolving this issue. I have been getting these at least once a year for the past 4 years. I'm just so sick of this S#*T. The funny thing is that they never happen while working out. It's the littlest thing as bending over to tie my shoes or turning the wrong way. Looking forward to hearing the responses. |

I had to inch my way to a sitting position, then finaly I stood up. Once the initial pain went away, it wasn't bad. I could tell something was wrong, but thought it wsa just a freak thing where I pinched a nerve or something from moving wrong, and it was just a little sore.. Until, the next day, when I stupidly layed across my bed the same way to see if it would happen again. Same deal.. back hurt so bad, it took me 5 minutes to get to a standing position. Since then it has happened once, or twice a year, but now it seems to hurt for alot longer when it happens. I go to the doctors, and he gives me tramadol, and flexeril, and by the next day, I feel much better. I too have never had it happen while lifting weights. I deadlift a ton of weight one week, the next week I hurt my back picking up a piece of paper. According to my doctor, there is nothing that you can do about it, but treat it when it happens, with pain killers, and muscle relaxers. It is the only thing that will get the muscles to stop spasming. From what I have learned the muscles spasm to protect you from injuring yourself. My theory as to why it never happens when I'm lifting is because I think it happens when your back relaxes, and allows your spin to twist, or your vertebra to seperate, as opposed to when you are tightening everthing up, and straining to lift. Look on the bright side, atleast you don't have a disc problem. | |
