| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | Wow... It's been four years since I graduated college, and with my life being very shattered and picking up what's left and moving on, I didn't even really realize that saturday I will graduate from Marshall University's college of Business with a BBA in Marketing and CUM LAUDE (however it's spelled). I had to go to the registrars to sign something and they gave me my special tastle and cords to wear saturday. I was so happy. I went out to my jeep, and started to tear up a bit... this is extra special for me. Here is a bit of family history: Neither of my parents went to college, My dad went the military route. On my moms side of the family I will be the first to graduate college since her grandmother did it in 1920's (from my college actually but never met her, died in the 60's). None of her brothers or parents went to college. On my dad's side he did have 2 sisters go to college, one graduated in the 70's while the other graduated last year. No male has ever graduated college on my dad's or mom's side. I am also one of two people on my dad's side (my brother being the other) to be able to spread the last name of our family. My great aunts all cried when I was born because I was the last chance (my brother came in 90). I am very proud of myself and came over a lot of odds, definitely growing up as poor as I did for the first 7 years of my life. What I am trying to say is... I want to congratulate everyone that is graduating high school, college, anything. It has been a long road for everyone and everyone has their stories. I just wanted to post mine. Congrats, and I hope your day is a special one. TRICK

| Pro Stature | Congrats. I have a long ways to go before I graduate. 2 years in, 4+ to go! For graduation I plan on not shaving the beard for an entire year. That should make for an awesome class photo ![]() From what I hear Marshall is a darn nice place to get a degree. Never personally thought about going there but know people who did.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 216 | Muwahahah I graduate on May 18th!!!! Congrats Trick, graduating with honors is a huge deal. Unfortunately for me, the maniacal curve-wrecking premeds made sure that there was no way for me to avoid a "C" in my 4 years here ![]() For now we'll just ignore the fact that I still have grad school in my future and just celebrate my being done with undergrad ![]()

College is a means to an end...remember that. If you start getting bored with classes, remember that you're learning things that will be the base for your career. The grades you get and (more importantly) what you learn in college directly effect the rest of your life, so kick ass and take names! :hellyea:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 33 | this thread's timing is very interesting to say the least, and it hits very close to home with me. even though i am not graduating from college, but am finishing up my senior year of high school. now, i can remember back to the end of my freshman year when i just wanted to leave high school and go to college. but now that its finally coming to an end, im not sure im ready (emotionally). i realize that physically im ready and ive been mentaly ready for about 4-5 years now (it was originally reccomended that i begin taking college classes my freshman year of high school). but now, here i sit. i am almost finished with my senior season of volleyball, but im not ready to stop. the time has almost come for me to leave and move 3k miles away to the west coast and begin college, but im not ready to leave them. i dont want to leave ALL my friends, and ALL my family, and my girlfriend whom i care about very much. the thing i regret most is being the way i was when i originally started HS. i was a very introverted person and stayed at home all the time and did things by myself. i was like that till the beginning of my senior year, when i met up again with a real close friend, and she is the EXACT OPPOSITE. she rubbed off on me and now im almost as bad as her...lol..for the first 3 years, i was hardly known, now i hardly have a moment without someone yelling for me, calling, IM'ing, texting, showing up at my house, etc. back then i knew almost no one, now theres almost no one who DOESNT know me, and damn i gotta admit, im gonna miss the friends ive got and the stupid shit we do. as for graduation, my school sucks. there is a national organization that is run by the nobel prize family, and i was accepted in. they only take 250 members from across the globe each year, and they select you, you dont apply...hell, you dont even know until you receive the letter saying your in. http://www.nshss.org/ anyway, i recieved a special tassle and medal to wear at graduation, however, they will not be allowing me to wear them (neither the medal nor the tassle) because it was not ISSUED by the school. i am the only student from my school and the only one from my state to be given this award and i am not allowed to even get recognition for it. I will even be going to the senate building to meet claes nobel! **if there are any doubts about the validity of me being in this organization, i will post a picture of a letter i got from them, and pictures of the medal and tassle.

| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | Congrats on your accomplishments, I was lucky and my school was only 45 minutes from my high school. I can feel your pain though. I lost a lot of people, but you gain a lot more in college.

The friendships you forge in college last longer...probably due to the maturity you gain during your time there. Regardless, there is no reason you will struggle to find friends at school Antihero. Just be yourself and you'll find a lot of fun times:crazy1:

| Mushroom Cloud Laying.... | Definitely well said Ikaika! BTW, I think after 8 semesters I will get my first 4.0 this semester. I have proof that I have made A's in MBA marketing and ISC 280. I took a final in MGT 460 that supposively wouldn't drop your grade (I had an A), and I have an incredibly high spanish grade. Lets see if I can do it!
